Description
Sweet apple and smooth rooibos meet cinnamon, orange, ginger, cardamom and clove in a caffeine-free blend inspired by warm spiced cider beside the fire.
Overall character: Apple-forward • sweet • spicy • warming Concept: Essentially an herbal interpretation of hot spiced apple cider.
Apple — the star. Unlike Winter Hearth, where rooibos is the foundation, apple should be immediately noticeable here. It provides fruity sweetness and gives customers a recognizable flavor before the spices arrive.
Rooibos — body and balance. Rooibos gives the tea more depth than you'd get from apple and spices alone. Its earthy sweetness also keeps the blend from tasting like flavored hot water.
Cinnamon — primary spice. Apple and cinnamon are natural partners. Cinnamon intensifies the perception of sweetness while giving the tea its warm winter character.
Orange peel — brightness. A small amount of orange lifts the apple and spices. It keeps the cup from becoming too sweet or heavy.
Ginger — warming bite. Ginger provides a slightly sharper heat than cinnamon. This gives the blend another layer of flavor and creates a pleasant warming finish.
Cardamom — aromatic top note. Cardamom introduces a sweet, citrusy, almost floral spice character. Because the blend already contains cinnamon and ginger, you only need a little cardamom to make the spice profile more interesting.
Clove — depth. Clove gives the final dark, aromatic winter-spice note. It's intentionally used in a small quantity because too much can overpower apple and rooibos.
Why they work together: This blend uses apple as the centerpiece rather than the supporting ingredient. Rooibos gives it body, cinnamon reinforces the apple, orange lifts it, ginger creates warmth, and cardamom and clove provide aromatic complexity.
