Description
A vibrant ruby-red summer tea bursting with strawberry and tart hibiscus, brightened with orange and finished with refreshing spearmint.
Hibiscus — the bright, tart foundation. Hibiscus is the backbone of this blend. It produces that gorgeous ruby-red color and a cranberry-like tartness that makes an iced tea taste especially refreshing. Traditionally, hibiscus has also been enjoyed as a cooling herbal beverage in warm climates.
Strawberry — the sweet summer fruit note. Dried strawberry rounds out hibiscus's sharp tartness with a familiar berry flavor and aroma. It makes the blend feel more approachable and gives it an unmistakable summertime character.
Rose hips — fruity depth and balance. Rose hips have a pleasantly tart, slightly sweet fruit flavor that naturally complements both strawberry and hibiscus. They're also naturally associated with vitamin C, although the amount ultimately present in a brewed cup varies with processing and preparation.
Orange peel — the citrus bridge. Orange peel brings aromatic citrus oils and a slightly bittersweet quality. That little bit of bitterness keeps the fruit flavors from becoming one-dimensional and connects the tart hibiscus with the sweeter strawberry.
Spearmint — the cooling finish. It gives the tea a fresh, cooling finish and helps prevent the heavier fruit flavors from lingering too long.
Why they work together: Think of the flavor progression as tart → berry → citrus → cool mint. Hibiscus and rose hips provide acidity, strawberry softens them, orange brightens everything, and mint cleans up the finish.
