Saphir Hops
German Saphir Hop Profile
Released in 2002 by the Hüll Hop Research Center, Saphir is a low-alpha (2-4.5%), noble-like variety with an edge of spice and fruit. More pronounced than its fellow German varieties, Saphir has a complex blend of juniper, lemongrass, bergamot, strawberry and black tea. These characteristics shine in dry-hopping traditional German lagers, pilsners, Kölsch, hefeweizens, and Belgian-style ales.
