Description
A sunny, caffeine-free blend of bright lemongrass and lemon peel softened with lemon balm and chamomile, with a delicate kiss of lavender.
Lemongrass — the citrus foundation. Lemongrass gives you a clean, crisp lemon character without actually making the tea sour. It's light enough for summer but strong enough to remain noticeable after the tea is poured over ice.
Lemon balm — the soft herbal lemon note. Lemon balm is gentler and more herbaceous than lemongrass. Traditionally, it's associated with relaxing herbal preparations. Flavor-wise, it takes the sharper citrus notes and makes them feel softer and more rounded.
Lemon peel — the true citrus punch. This is what makes the blend smell unmistakably lemony. The peel adds aromatic citrus character plus a tiny amount of bitterness that gives the finished tea more complexity.
Chamomile — the mellowing ingredient. Chamomile contributes gentle apple-like, honey-like and floral notes. It fills in the middle of the flavor profile so the blend doesn't taste like several different forms of lemon piled together. Chamomile also has a long traditional association with relaxation.
Lavender — the aromatic accent. Lavender is the finishing touch rather than the star.
Why they work together: You have three different expressions of citrus—bright lemongrass, soft lemon balm and aromatic lemon peel—balanced by mellow chamomile and just enough lavender for a floral finish.
